Fees for Nondegree Students Enrolled in Main Campus Classes

The fees assessed for ACCESS, certificate and/or Summer Session nondegree students depends on whether you are taking main campus in-person or online courses:

  • Students taking main campus in-person classes are charged full mandatory fees per the campus fee schedule. These fees give students access to the RTD bus system and other campus services.
  • Students taking main campus online classes only are charged online fees.

If you do not plan to utilize the resources covered by student fees, you may follow the instructions on this page to waive the majority of your fees.

Please note that the Board of Regents reserves the right to change the fee rate at any time.

CE Evening Credit and CE Online Credit Student Fees

Denver-metro area nondegree students enrolled in CE Evening Credit or CE Online Credit courses may elect to purchase an optional student fee packages to obtain additional resources. Main campus degree-seeking students enrolled in a combination of main campus and CE Evening Credit / CE Online Credit courses do not need to opt in or pay additional fees. However, main campus degree-seeking students exclusively enrolled in CE Evening Credit and CE Online Credits courses will be charged the student fees package if they have opted into CU health insurance and are enrolled in 6+ credits.

Students with unpaid fees will incur a 1% monthly finance charge of the total remaining fee balance. In addition, students must also purchase a BuffOne ID card. BuffOne cards can be purchased for $30 in room N180 of the Center for Community (C4C), just east of Regent Hall. Visit www.buffonecard.com for more information.

Fees for Spring 2024

Spring 2024 cost is $522.94 and includes the Student Activity Fee, Bikes Program Fee, Transit Fee, and access to the Student Recreation Center. Students can elect to pay an additional $194.49 to add the Student Health Fee and Mental Health Resource Fee.

Fees for Summer 2024

Summer 2024 cost is $375.11 and includes the Student Activity Fee, Bikes Program Fee, Transit Fee, and access to the Student Recreation Center. Students can elect to pay an additional $121.56 to add the Student Health Fee and Mental Health Resource Fee.

Fees Waiver

Nondegree and standalone certificate students may be able to waive all student fees except for the computing fee and A&S technology fee. If you are not utilizing resources such as the bus pass, Rec Center or health insurance, you may complete the online fee waiver form.

Instructions for Fees Waiver

  1. Pay your bill by the published due date excluding the student activity fee.
  2. Complete and submit the online fee waiver form by the deadline for the appropriate term.
    • Spring 2024 deadline: Feb 29, 2024
    • Summer 2024 deadline: July 26, 2024
    • Fall 2024 deadline: TBD
  3. Within one week of submitting your petition, login to Buff Portal to verify your account balance.

You will receive an email confirmation when your form has been successfully submitted, and another when your waiver has been processed.

Student Health Insurance

Fall and Spring

Continuing Education students who are enrolled for credit courses may be eligible to purchase health insurance through Wardenburg Health Center, the on-campus healthcare provider. Students must also purchase the optional student fees (for the bus pass, recreation center, etc.) in order to enroll in health insurance. For eligibility requirements, deadlines, and more information visit the Health and Wellness Services website or call 303-492-5107.

Some students may be automatically enrolled in the CU Gold Health Insurance Plan, and additional student fees will be assessed. During the fall and spring semesters students are automatically enrolled if they are:

  • a degree-seeking student,
  • enrolled in at least one Continuing Education course, and
  • enrolled in 6 or more credits as an undergraduate or enrolled in 1 or more credits as a graduate student.

You may also be eligible for an alternative plan. Contact a Continuing Education Academic Advisor for more information.

Summer

Students enrolled in a health insurance plan for the spring semester are also covered during the summer.

New summer students are not automatically enrolled in an insurance plan, but have the opportunity to purchase coverage at the Wardenburg Health Center by July 1. Payment is due at enrollment.

Waiving Health Insurance Fees

Students automatically enrolled in the CU Gold SHIP during the fall and spring semesters may waive the health insurance plan and fees via Buff Portal. Look for the Student Health Insurance card to get started.

The last day to waive/add health insurance for Spring 2024 is February 13, 2024.

The last day to waive/add health insurance for Fall 2024 is TBD.
