Auditing in Summer
Summer sessions operate differently from the fall and spring semesters, so please review the information below before applying.
- Summer classes are offered during shorter, independent session that are 5-weeks, 8-weeks, or 10-weeks long versus the traditional 15-week sessions in the fall and spring. Maymester and Augmester classes are restricted and cannot be audited.
- Most summer classes are offered online/remote.
- The enrollment policy remains the same: auditors may only be enrolled after the add deadline for credit-seeking students. As a result, in a 5-week course, you may only have Canvas access for 4 of the 5 weeks of the class.
- You will not have access to online classes until you’re fully enrolled.
- If this timeline doesn’t work for you, please select a class in a longer session or audit during the fall and spring semesters when courses are 15-weeks long.
- Canvas access can only be given to you when you are officially enrolled. There are no exceptions to this policy even for an online class or a shorter session class.
- Enrollment is not guaranteed. There must be space in the class at the time of enrollment and the course cannot be restricted. Do not buy books until you receive an enrollment confirmation email.
How to Apply and Enroll
Follow the steps below to enroll as an auditor. If you have questions about any of the steps listed below, contact us at auditorprogram@colorado.edu.
Auditor Transcripts
There is no credit for audited courses nor are auditors eligible to petition for credit at any time.
Auditors can view and print an unofficial copy of their transcript through Buff Portal, the campus student portal, or request a hard copy through the Office of the Registrar.
Au pairs enrolled through the Auditor program may obtain letters of enrollment verification by contacting cerecords@colorado.edu at the end of the semester.
Note: To view an unofficial transcript of audited courses in Buff Portal, search for the transcript card and be sure to change from “All CU Careers” to “Non-credit Career.”
