Instructor
Dr. Uyen T. Truong
Dr. Uyen T. Truong, MD, is a junior faculty member at Children’s Hospital Colorado, University of Colorado School of Medicine, specializing in pediatric cardiac non-invasive imaging, with a focus in echocardiogram and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR). Dr. Truong’s primary research focus at Children’s Hospital has been the use of MRI to derive hemodynamic data that were conventionally obtained from invasive measures of cardiac catheterization. The serial examinations that many patients undergo expose them to multiple radiation. Dr. Truong believes that utilization of echocardiogram and MRI are critical in caring for children. She is also involved in three multicenter projects of pediatric cardiovascular diseases, two of which she directs the MRI acquisition. The third project is a collaboration with physicians at Boston Children’s Hospital and University of Michigan Medical Center, as well as parents of children with pulmonary hypertension to create the first pediatric research mobile application. The goal of the project is to create a large database of pediatric subjects to push for the first FDA-approved pediatric medication for pulmonary hypertension. Dr. Truong is the recipient of several honors, including an Oak Fellowship from Stanford Medical Center.
