Whether you are a current undergraduate student looking to supplement your main campus course load or a non-degree student interested in gaining new skills and knowledge, our Evening Credit program can help you reach your goals.

If you are new to Evening Credit, this article will provide a handy overview of the program and its benefits, as well as provide a list of important information and helpful resources to make your experience successful.

We also encourage you to visit the Continuing Education website over the course of the academic year as we profile Evening Credit instructors and why they love their evening classes.

Program Overview

Evening Credit offers evening sections of popular undergraduate CU Boulder courses for students who want to add classes to their schedule but can’t fit them in during the day. More than 50 courses are offered each semester from diverse subject areas such as anthropology, biology, math, economics, music, and more. Evening Credit courses are awarded just like main campus classes; grades count toward your GPA and your transcript doesn’t distinguish between evening and daytime courses.

Most classes meet on campus once a week for two to three hours, however some of our courses are offered in a hybrid format that includes both online and in-class coursework. Sessions typically run thirteen weeks and include a final exam or project. Be sure to read course descriptions carefully to make sure the format, meeting time, and session duration fit your needs and schedule.

Who is an Evening Credit student?

Evening Credit students don’t fit tidily into a single student category; they hail from all walks of life and disciplines. What they have in common is a need for flexible learning options. Evening Credit students come to the program to achieve their own personal goals, but a few common themes include:

  • Making significant progress toward finishing a degree
  • Testing a subject before applying to a degree program at the university
  • Exploring a new subject for personal enrichment
  • Professional development

Program Benefits

Students who take evening classes enjoy:

  • Smaller class sizes— Dedicate more attention to the subject matter and develop a closer connection to your instructors and peers.
  • Flexible schedule— Evening class times allow you to fit coursework around your daytime class or work schedule.
  • Convenience— Evening Credit students only attend class once a week.
