ABOUT THE COURSE:

This class will explore rhythms from the African Diaspora including: Cuba, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Peru and Trinidad. This class will also focus on basic hand drumming technique and basic functional musicianship like notation and meter. It is STRONGLY encouraged, but not required, to own some sort of hand drum for this class. We can talk more about this on our first class meeting. Be prepared to be engaged in a fun and communal life-long activity!
