Community Auditor Registration
In-person classes offered by CU Boulder main campus as well as CE Evening Credit classes offered through Continuing Education are available for auditing during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. CE online classes cannot be audited.
Community auditors may search classes using the CU Boulder Class Search.
Registration
Community auditors must be formally included on the roster for the class(es) they will attend. To register as an auditor, complete the Community Auditor Registration Form (currently unavailable) and obtain written instructor approval (email will suffice) during the first week of your Summer Session class and forward to the Enrollment Services Team at ceregistration@colorado.edu.
An auditor may not switch from being an auditor to enrolling in a course for credit within the same semester. Community members interested in learning more about taking courses for credit should contact an academic advisor.
Dates and Deadlines
Current degree students receive priority during open enrollment and auditors will not be added to any waitlist or enrolled above classroom fire code restrictions even with instructor permission.
Although auditors may attend classes during the first two weeks of the session to ask professors for permission to audit the course, enrollment will not be official until the auditor submits their enrollment form to Continuing Education (1505 University Avenue) after the last official day to add a course (see the ACCESS Academic Calendar for specific dates).
Spring 2021
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Colorado Boulder will not offer the Community Auditors program for the Spring 2021 semesters.
Cost
Payment is due at the time of enrollment. Community auditors pay a flat rate of $250.00 per term regardless of the number of courses they have permission to attend. There are no additional course fees charged to auditors.
You can pay for your course online*. Access online payments via Buff Portal via the Tuition & Fees card. Click on Balance Summary, then View/Pay Bill, which will direct you to CU Bill&Pay, the university’s secure online billing and payment system.
*You will be assessed a nonrefundable 2.75% service fee for credit card payments.
There is no refund and no opportunity to petition for a refund. Additionally, auditors are not eligible for financial aid, scholarships, or payment plans.
