Instructor
Jacob Bori
Jacob Bori is an incoming graduate student beginning his Master’s in Music Degree at the University of Colorado Boulder with Dr. Walter. Jacob began his musical studies at the age of 9 through his local elementary school music program, and just recently received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio where he studied with Dr. Roger Schupp and Dr. Isabelle Huang-Streng. As an undergraduate he had many opportunities to perform with groups such as the Detroit Civic Orchestras, Detroit Civic Wind Symphony, Toledo Orchestra, Toledo Youth Orchestra, and Perrysburg Orchestra. Jacob was also a finalist in the BGSU chamber competitions in 2010 and 2011, as well as a finalist in the 2010 concerto competition. He can be heard playing timpani on Narong Prangcharoen: Mantras with the Bowling Green State University.
Jacob was the timpanist with the 2009 Capital Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, and taught marching percussion locally (both front ensemble and battery) since beginning his college career. He also participated in BGSU’s Afro-Caribbean Ensemble for six semesters with a focus on music from Western Ghana and studied secular Bata drumming during his undergraduate degree. As an educator, he believes that each student deserves a personal approach that will widen their musical sensibilities and help them pursue the music they are passionate about in any capacity that they so desire.
