This cross-disciplinary course provides students with opportunities to engage in a wide variety of methodologies for making. Through the lens of the visual arts, we will examine the process of making in allied areas such as science, psychology, design, the culinary arts, performance, fiction, and more. Readings, discussions, and projects will address topics like the creative process, sources of inspiration, concept development, creative block, methods of self-editing & self-critique, artist writing, and relevant issues in contemporary art. Independent projects will encourage a dialogue pertaining to individualized creative development. May be repeated up to 7 total credit hours. Prereqs., ARTS 1010, 1020 and ARTH 1300 or 1400.
Summer 2015: Students will meet twice on campus from 6-9 pm on Tuesday, May 12 and Thursday, May 14. The remaining coursework will be completed online.
