Certificate Programs

A professional certificate might be just what you need to take your career or your coursework to the next level. Continuing Education has partnered with departments at CU Boulder to offer the following certificates:

Certification in Corporate Social Responsibility (CCSR)

As businesses increasingly choose to evaluate their success on the “triple bottom line” (people, planet, and profit), professionals leading CSR efforts within their companies are looking for best practices that can help deliver maximum value back to their companies and the communities they serve. The Certification in Corporate Social Responsibility is a 40-hour professional development program for people seeking to further themselves and their companies in the practice of CSR. Developed in partnership with B:CIVIC, a Colorado-based nonprofit alliance of professionals and business leaders focused on CSR and civic philanthropy. Upon completion of the program, students receive a nondegree Certification in CSR from the Leeds School of Business.

Certificate in Language Teaching with Technology

The Certificate in Language Teaching with Technology is a 12-credit, fully online graduate program dedicated to the theory and practice of technology integration in the language classroom. It is designed for language educators who wish to improve their technological, pedagogical, and linguistic proficiency. This certificate is sponsored by the Anderson Language & Technology Center at CU Boulder.

Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Professional Certificate

The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Professional Certificate Program provides the opportunity for individuals desiring employment in public schools as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant to meet the requisite requirements for authorization in the state of Colorado and to develop the skills to work under the supervision of a MA Level Speech-Language Pathology Assistant.

Engineering Graduate Professional Certificates

Several departments in the College of Engineering and Applied Science offer graduate professional certificates that are available for enrollment by non-degree students. Visit the department webpages for information on how to apply:

Professional Renewable Energy Certificate

Designed in collaboration with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the Environmental Studies Program, the RASEI Professional Certificate provides working professionals and lifelong learners with an in-depth study of renewable and sustainable energy technologies, policies, and business—the cornerstones of this rapidly growing industry. The certificate provides students, working professionals, and alternative energy practitioners with the background and skills to begin or advance careers in renewable and sustainable energy. You will learn from engaging and experienced experts in the field, collaborate with graduate students from across the CU campus, and network with other professional students who share your interests. You can take the courses in person or online through state-of-the-art distance learning technology, and our program and instructors are flexible and responsive to the needs of working professionals around the world.

Upon completing this three-course program, participants receive nine graduate-level credits and earn a professional certificate granted by the University of Colorado Boulder, a Tier 1 research institution. In addition, these course credits may be counted towards the ten courses required for the Engineering Management Program’s (EMP) Master of Engineering (ME) degree, or toward the Renewable and Sustainable Energy specialization track within the Masters of the Environment degree.
