Leanne Hampton
Praised as “superb” by the Log Cabin Democrat, flutist Leanne Hampton enjoys an active and varied career that includes performing with chamber music groups, outreach organizations, orchestras, and new music ensembles. Currently, Leanne is completing her MM with Christina Jennings at the University of Colorado Boulder. Ms. Hampton holds a BA in Music with Honors from the University of Central Arkansas where she studied with Dr. Carolyn Brown.
Ms. Hampton is a member of the award-winning graduate wind quintet, 40th Parallel, at CU-Boulder. The ensemble competes in prestigious competitions, performs regularly in both community and professional settings, and engages in outreach programs for young musicians. Recently, 40th Parallel appeared as semi-finalists in the Plowman Chamber Music Competition and was awarded runner-up at the MTNA West Regional Chamber Music Competition.
Ms. Hampton has won prizes at the Oklahoma Flute Society Collegiate Artist Competition and the Mid-South Flute Society Young Artist Competition. During her time in Arkansas, she served as co-principal of the Conway Symphony Orchestra and performed with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and Arkansas Repertory Theater. Ms. Hampton has attended the Texas Summer Music Festival as a fellow, and she has participated in the ARIA Institute and BU Tanglewood Institute summer programs. She has also performed in masterclasses for the flute clubs of Kentucky, Oklahoma, and the Mid-South.
